I want to read good news (Closed; Albus and Lily)
Who: Albus Potter and Lily Evans
What: Albus decides it's time to meet his grandmum
When: September 2, 1980
Where:Auturgy, Diagon Alley
Warning: None
Status: In Progress
[Albus arrives at Auturgy in Diagon Alley far more nervous than he appears. Reaching out to his Grandmum had been impulsive. He probably should have introduced himself in person before chatting with her as if they were old friends. Still, he couldn't ignore Lily's post. If he and Scorpius were to find a way out of this mess and put the world right again, they were going to need Lily's help. That didn't change the fact that the last time he saw his Grandmum... well, he should really say, the last time he heard her voice... it wasn't pleasant. Not by any stretch.
He takes a deep breath before he enters the shop. Normally, he'd browse through the aisles, picking up bottles and vials since he can't seem to enter a shop without touching everything. Today, however, he walks straight up to the counter.]

Hello? Lily... er... Miss... Evans?

she's bent behind the counter when he speaks and straightens so quickly that she almost bashes her head on the damn thing, swearing and pushing her hair out of her face - and then staring at him. her eyes flick over his face and he looks exactly like harry in the way that harry looks like james - so similar but just different enough.
she smiles but it's a little shaky. ]
Albus?

That's me. I'm Albus. Sorry, I guess I should have just dropped by when I first saw your advert in the book. Still, I don't think there's a proper way to introduce yourself to your grandmum when you're practically the same age.
[Albus laughs before offering Lily his hand.] Albus Severus Potter. It's lovely to meet you.

[ it's a joke, something light and airy, and she lets him go with a soft laugh before she pushes some of her hair back again, suddenly nervous. a son and a grandson. what else? who else? ] It's wonderful to meet you too, Albus.
[ a beat. ] Harry is here, but I don't think he realizes he has any children. [ he appears to be younger than his son. ]

Yeah, everyone says I look just like my Dad except for the glasses and the scar. He has your eyes, though. So it's something we have in common.
[He's surprised to hear that his Dad is there. He's relieved - perhaps he and Scorpius have even more people in their corner that can help them sort this out.] That might be a good thing. If he doesn't know I'm here, then he can't scold me, can he?

There are differences, they just don't notice them. Haven't got the eye for it, so to speak. [ ha ha lily you're so funny.
she moves back to settle on a stool, gesturing to another one so her... grandson... can sit as well. ] Now you sound like your grandfather, always trying to figure out how to stay out of trouble. [ then, knowingly: ] I'll bet all those similarities are skin-deep though, mm? No two wizards are the same. Tell me about yourself.

Let's see... I'm not sure where to begin. Probably the biggest difference between myself and my Dad is that he's a Gryffindor and I'm a Slytherin. We don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, actually. Everyone says I look like him but once they get to know me they find out I'm nothing like my Dad.
[Albus trails off. He hadn't meant to go on about his father and the fact that even though their relationship was better than it had been years before, they still were very different people.]

[ there's no judgment there - lily's even smiling a little, head tilted aside. ] About time that family had one. I could have been. Hat finally decided Gryffindor. Of course, then my best friend got sorted into Slytherin...
[ it's a little sad, but she perks up again. ] There's nothing wrong with being different from your parents! You're your own person, not a clone of them. [ a beat. ] All right. Albus Potter, Slytherin, his own person. Anything else you feel comfortable telling me?
no subject
I'm not the only one here. My best mate, Scorpius, he's here, too. Which is kind of brilliant because if anyone can figure out how to get us back home it's Scorpius. He's the smartest person I know. I know he'd love to meet you. I'm not so bad at potions, but he can talk circles around me.
no subject
[ she pauses, thoughtful, before that smile returns. ] I'd love to meet him too. Whenever he can come see me is fine by me. [ a hum, and she pushes a little of his hair back - it's so strange, having someone so close to her age being her grandson. ] You like potions?
no subject
Yeah. Outside of Charms, Potions is my next favorite. There's something simple about mixing ingredients to create a potion. Even though there are loads of ways a potion can go horribly bad, it's all based on a logical set of rules. I like that. A bit like cooking, in a way.
